Volume Forty-Four continues site nine and its subject: what a single observation establishes. A card sold as one capacity and holding another, where the moment it failed measures the truth. Eleven thousand photographs copied to a new card, of which a handful arrived. A drive board with a scorch mark and an owner's plan to swap it, which stopped being possible some years ago. A stick bent double inside a laptop and then straightened, which counted as a second bend. A camcorder disc interrupted mid-finalisation, with the other side of the same disc finished cleanly as a control. And at case 2200, a verdict from someone else — two observations and one conclusion, arriving together and sounding equally certain, where heads adhered to a platter is an ordinary Tuesday and a scratch is a band at one radius rather than an erased disc.
