Process · how it works

How a recovery actually runs.

A transparent path, free of nasty surprises, running from that first quote all the way to your data back in hand — a fixed written price settled before any work, and no fix, no fee on most jobs. Every stage is laid out below, beginning to end.

Five stages, zero surprises.

The price is known before anything starts, and for most jobs payment only follows once your data is back.

and you approve the fourth.

Nothing becomes chargeable until a figure has been agreed in writing. Everything before that point costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

StageWhat happensWhen
Logged inPhotographed, serial recorded, no power applied The most common way data is lost for good is another power-on before anyone has looked. Nothing is energised until it has been assessed. Hour 0

AssessmentWhat is readable, what is damaged, what is gone Head and surface condition, firmware state, file system integrity, and on arrays the original stripe geometry. Hours 24–48
Written verdictOne fixed price, or an honest no A plain account of what failed and what is realistically coming back. Roughly one job in nine gets a no, free of charge. Hour 48

// what stays constant

Whatever the fault, these do not change.

01 / IMAGED FIRST

Always, without exception

Nothing is attempted on your original media. Every reconstruction runs against a copy, so a failed attempt costs nothing and can be retried differently.

02 / ONE FIXED FIGURE

Agreed before work starts

No percentage, no hourly rate, no revision once the drive is open. The number at stage four is the number on the invoice.

03 / IN-HOUSE ONLY

Nothing subcontracted

Work is carried out by our own engineers at Vision Park. Data does not leave the UK and does not pass through a partner laboratory.

04 / AN HONEST NO

Free, and early

Where nothing can be recovered you hear it at stage four rather than in week three, and there is nothing to pay.

// questions

The process, answered.

The device is logged, imaged where safe to do so, and assessed. You get a written account of the fault class, what we expect to recover and one fixed figure. No charge and no obligation.

Within 48 hours of the device arriving. That is a written verdict rather than a holding email, and it includes a realistic date for the work itself.

The device goes home at no cost. Nothing has been opened and nothing has been charged for.

Frequently, and it is worth asking. Where a deadline is close we can extract the specific files you need first and complete the rest afterwards, at no extra cost.

On new encrypted media or by secure link, with a file list you see before paying. We do not return data to the device it came off.

Held for 14 days after delivery in case anything was missed, then securely wiped — unless you have asked for it back or asked us to destroy it sooner.
